Our first visit to the Tate Modern.....

Well, well well, what a turn up for the books!I have an opinion about art! Some i like some i dont and some well quit frankly,i think the artist is trying his or her luck!

I can say i really had a good time,i have seen  films when people walk round galleries and look at a picture for a good few minutes.I really never thought that would be me,it was,i was looking at the painting morning,i related to it in so many ways. She looked tired, sad and hurt. All of which i have felt!Believe me that could of been me lying there!I felt and feel, sometimes we just need to rest....

.Through out the day,i thought what would of been interesting would,to have a discussion on a particular piece and have the artist tell us the thought behind the piece.

I had a conversation with Nick and it dawned on me that everything i had looked at had been someones creation....who am i to say something is rubbish?I really dont like when someone dismisses and rubbishs my ideas!!

I think what i have learnt the most about this project is.......wait for it....is SELF BELIEF.If an artist or anyone, writes, sings, dances or sculpts etc and believes they have done a good job, well thats all that matters....i have doubted myself in the past, lacked believing in myself and what i can achieve.Im not saying this has been a life changing project, what i will say it has given me something to think about.

So will i go back to Saddlers wells?Yes im going Friday, with a group of friends we are doing a flamenco workshop, all because i went on how great the dancers were. Will i go back to the Tate,Yes.....Will i ever have the love for museums that Keon has......i really dont see that happening, well not in this life time!

Keons Words

I thought that the Tate was very interesting and it is full of Royal pieces of art.I liked how the big rock looked. It was a nice day.

Hi Alison,
I'm really moved by what you said about the Tate visit and how this whole project has affected and changed you. You put it all so well and I'd love you to tell us all in our last big meeting as I'm sure the emotional floodgates will open then.
Keon, I reckon your mum will change her mind about museums once she's been to the Soane Museum, don't you?

Alison...I may a big softie but I had tears in my eyes reading your blog. I giggled at the first bit about the artist trying his/her luck and then all that bit about self belief is just amazing! SO moving! I am so delighted that you both have had such an amazing experience and I don't think you should have any reason for doubting yourself at all. I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you have found the project to be such a success and I think your idea about working with the artist and talking to them about his/her work would be a brilliant idea. Thank you

"We have decided to take Ryan and Naombh somewhere at least once a month and have figured that with our children its best sometimes just to get on a bus or tube and just see what's going on ,sort of exposing them to the arts accidentally there is so much to see and do"
