Julie and Julia. A review.

Julie and Julia is a film, brought out last year, is a film about the twinned stories of two women brought together by a shared love of cooking and desire to spread their message to the world around them.

It focuses on Julia Childs,a famous chef from 1950s America and her struggle to come to terms with a lonely life in Paris. After developing a real passion for cooking Parisien food, Julia then fights to publish an English language cook book of the most significant recipes from traditional French food.

50 years later, Julie a tele-insurance (?) operator living in Queens,New York is facing the same struggle to find something meaningful in her life. She sets herself a challenge: to cook and sample all 525 of Julia Childs recipes from her groundbreaking book in 365 days and she sets about blogging on her efforts. The film focuses around the relationship which Julie develops with the both her online community, through the comments left on her blog site and donations sent in in aid of her challenge, and also with the image of Julia Childs she creates throughout the year spent reading and cooking her recipes.

"I think what i have learnt the most about this project is.......wait for it....is SELF BELIEF. If an artist or anyone, writes, sings, dances or sculpts etc and believes they have done a good job, well thats all that matters....i have doubted myself in the past, lacked believing in myself and what i can achieve....”
