Art Workshop

Today we did the Art Workshop!

As I walked into tha Hall and saw the big table full of empty cereal boxes etc. I was very worried! I wondered what was expected of us?!

Luckily when we were split into groups Ryan and I were with Chrissie and Ivan. Chrissie is a bit of an artist so I hoped we'd be ok?! Then we were given our piece of paper with the words Busy City on it. Another good result!

We made an excellent model of a city, with the Church being my masterpiece!

I think we all enjoyed the Art Workshop - Ryan included?!!

Sculpture Workshop at Lauriston

Final destination!!

Hello one and all...

Its been a long time,my broadband is down,im between providers,to many choices !!

I really enjoyed the meal at Lauriston. One of the ladies said "we have prepared a few dishes". Under- statement of the century. It was a banquet, Anita, Niah, Keon and I; sat at the end of the table we really did stuff our faces! I'm looking forward to your international cookery day!!

Before we stuffed our faces, we watched some of the clips that Eelyn n crew created. Really funny, im not sure they were meant to be funny, they were. I know Keon is sick of me saying it, me- to Keon "Keon do you know what that is made of?" Keon to me "Mum it's not funny anymore; it really was made of cardboard"......classic!!

After we stuffed our faces, the parents got together I really enjoyed the chat. I learnt a lot from the other mothers. It was lovely to hear about their experiences. I do think it would have been nice to do that at the start of the project....Then the children were interviewed alone...can't wait to see what they said!

Yesterday, we did our last bit of filming, it was a gorgeous day. Keon loves the filming and likes to learn about the technical side also. I will endeavour to find a course or workshop for him, who knows this project, may encourage him to make films!

As for me, I have loved the project, met some lovely people, had some fun and learned some stuff in the process.

As I like writing a blog, and I hate seeing myself on camera~ overweight I'm thinking about documenting my weight loss journey and boy what a journey I don't think there is a diet I don't know about....

An afternoon with Eelyn

During this week Eelyn Winston and Jonathan visited Donna and Ryan in their home ,me and Naombh went to give Donna moral support , I took on my usual role of tea maker. My plan being to stay well away from the camera! For me that was the only problem I had with this project I have always been terrified of cameras and avoid them whenever possible.I explained to Eelyn that during our trips out I found myself panicking about thinking of something relevant to say afterwards and  I know I did not contribute as much as I could have done.Of course as soon as I got home I had all sorts of opinions and Donna and I chatted for ages about ours and the children' s feelings.I am really pleased to have been a part of this project and found it a very positive experience. We have decided to take Ryan and Naombh somewhere at least once a month and have figured that with our children its best sometimes just to get on a bus or tube and just see what's going on ,sort of exposing them to the arts accidentally there is so much to see and do.We have also learned that we don't have to be experts on anything and shouldn't be put off because of our lack of knowledge of various fields,no one is going to test us afterwards. I knew the staff ,children and parents of Lauriston school were lovely and can only say the same for everyone we met from Jubilee school.Eelyn and her crew were wonderful and so patient, especially with me!and iv'e actually got interested in film making and have figured out how to use the camcorder! feeling far more at ease on the other side of the camera.Best wishes to everyone involved in this project.

"Going to the dance was a fantastic experience. My grandmother who was very formal and austere used to take me to the ballet and i absolutely hated it"

"I think what i have learnt the most about this project is.......wait for it....is SELF BELIEF. If an artist or anyone, writes, sings, dances or sculpts etc and believes they have done a good job, well thats all that matters....i have doubted myself in the past, lacked believing in myself and what i can achieve....”
