Sadler's Wells

What a evening!!

I really enjoyed the show!Flamenco was BRILL,i didnt take my eyes off the stadge.I will be going back in March as they have some other shows coming up.

The breakdances.........were flexible beyond belief!!

Keon enjoyed himself, some parts more than others,he wanted a nap..soon changed his mind when the breakers came on.....I wont tell you what he said about Swan Lake lol.

Some of the audience  gave a few looks, when the children asked questions,i had to bit my lip!!we went to the 1st floor and got involved with the guy on the bed and listened to jesus christ super star!A photographer kept taking our pics,i did think why??Im sure it was because we were smiling so much......Over all it was good good evening,i spoke to my friend on the phone "you gota go"

On our way home i said to Keon,"we will go again and see another show and no i cant book the dancers for your birthday" he said "i bet we will"I will make the effort to take him and his brother to see something....its so easy to veg out at home.

Im happy im involved in ABC....thats all peeps...............

Dancing the night away...

What a wonderful workshop! It was so lovely to see parents and children working together, the closeness and the fun was so brilliant to see. Thank you to all of you for coming and to Cheryl for giving us a chance to experience hip hop and ballet! I'm not sure that I aquitted myself to well in my film interview - hot and gasping for breath I'm certain that I was talking utter nonsense. So glad there is the cutting room floor!

We have discovered a Billy Elliott! Nile's 'tours' were truly amazing! I, sadly, will not be entering Britain's Got Talent as the next hip-hop star...George Sampson has nothing to fear.

Looking forward to Sunday and seeing the professionals do it...this has really made me appreciate what dancers go through.

Filming and dance class

So im at work and the phone rings, its the lovely Eelyn.Asking would you like to do some filming at home.Well my first thought was, film crew in our house, ill ive to tidy up wiz round like theres no tomorrow, will i be judged, will i say the right thing etc....It turns out my worries were just me worrying as per.Keon had fun,it was nice to see him, showing his Nans work and bouncing up and down with his night googles on!!!I hope when parents hear about the workshops they will be inspired to learn more about the arts if they don't already.

After filming in the front room, keons bedroom and the bathroom,YES the bathroom,it was off to the dance class, Oh how the other half live!!!A lively warm lady took the class.A bit of hip-hop,ballet and mirroring was fun.some parts more than others....I liked the ballet, not sure about spinning on my bum!

Next stop Sunday at Sadlers Wells,im looking forward to it,i can now see why Jubilee is a school of creativity!!

Keons words...

I enjoyed the day,it was nice to have the film crew in our house, the man with the beard was funny.I thought the dance class would be old boring stuff...i liked it.

Thats all folks!!

Ps Mr Cannon has missed his true calling BALLET.He was jumping and spinning just like a real dancer!!

Dance Class!!!

ok...second workshop tomorrow - and its dance? Who will come, who will stay away? If I'm there in my leg warmers (joke) then I'm hoping everyone else will be too. Strangely the children seem very excited, the parents less so...can't imagine why? I think that to experience what the dancers are going through before the visit on Sunday will hopefully give everyone a new found respect and appreciation of what dancers go through. Who knows this may push a new Billy Elliot forward...or perhaps we'l see parents siging up for dance classes.       Well to paraphrase the words of the marvellous Miss Grant in Fame;

"Creativity costs...and right here's where you start paying - in sweat!"

"Going to the dance was a fantastic experience. My grandmother who was very formal and austere used to take me to the ballet and i absolutely hated it"

"I think what i have learnt the most about this project is.......wait for it....is SELF BELIEF. If an artist or anyone, writes, sings, dances or sculpts etc and believes they have done a good job, well thats all that matters....i have doubted myself in the past, lacked believing in myself and what i can achieve....”

"We have decided to take Ryan and Naombh somewhere at least once a month and have figured that with our children its best sometimes just to get on a bus or tube and just see what's going on ,sort of exposing them to the arts accidentally there is so much to see and do"
