An afternoon with Eelyn

During this week Eelyn Winston and Jonathan visited Donna and Ryan in their home ,me and Naombh went to give Donna moral support , I took on my usual role of tea maker. My plan being to stay well away from the camera! For me that was the only problem I had with this project I have always been terrified of cameras and avoid them whenever possible.I explained to Eelyn that during our trips out I found myself panicking about thinking of something relevant to say afterwards and  I know I did not contribute as much as I could have done.Of course as soon as I got home I had all sorts of opinions and Donna and I chatted for ages about ours and the children' s feelings.I am really pleased to have been a part of this project and found it a very positive experience. We have decided to take Ryan and Naombh somewhere at least once a month and have figured that with our children its best sometimes just to get on a bus or tube and just see what's going on ,sort of exposing them to the arts accidentally there is so much to see and do.We have also learned that we don't have to be experts on anything and shouldn't be put off because of our lack of knowledge of various fields,no one is going to test us afterwards. I knew the staff ,children and parents of Lauriston school were lovely and can only say the same for everyone we met from Jubilee school.Eelyn and her crew were wonderful and so patient, especially with me!and iv'e actually got interested in film making and have figured out how to use the camcorder! feeling far more at ease on the other side of the camera.Best wishes to everyone involved in this project.

what a lovely comment. Go for it! How brilliant to just get on the tube and go - i love the idea about getting the arts accidently. I'm sorry that you felt imtimidated a bit by all the filming and us grabbing you for comments...you obviously have lots to say. Thank you for all your support.

"I think what i have learnt the most about this project is.......wait for it....is SELF BELIEF. If an artist or anyone, writes, sings, dances or sculpts etc and believes they have done a good job, well thats all that matters....i have doubted myself in the past, lacked believing in myself and what i can achieve....”
