Can't beat Nick's brill blog title!
What a lovely end to a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening project. I was so moved by the atmosphere created last night and really felt we had become a very special group who had shared some unique experiences over the term.
Neither Nick nor Eelyn nor I had any idea about what might happen over the course of the project. It could easily have been a flop and a waste of time but it was neither of those. I think we all made a great journey together and what makes me happiest is that I learnt so much about what it means to be part of a school community. To me, what happened went way beyond the original remit of the project. I have found out so much more about the incredible value of shared experiences between parents and their children, teachers and parents. It has been a total pleasure exploring the different cultural offers together and being taught new things by you all.
We will definitely carry on with this group in some way next year if you are up for it because there is so much more to do. I can't wait to see what Eelyn and the gang do with thehours of film they have taken. I know that they will put into words and pictures what I find so hard to say (which is just as well).
Finally, I realised last night that food is the answer to all problems. From now on no meeting should be allowed to happen without plenty of it to be shared together. It was like an ancient ritual with everyone bringing something to the table (Iprovided the paper plates!) and then really getting down to business.
Thank you so much all of you from both Lauriston and Jubilee for making this such a rich experience. Have a well-deserved holiday. A Bob Dylan concert is my next bit of culture!
